Introduction
Afri Vroue Fonds is a non-profit company (NPC) devoted to lovingly supporting elderly Afrikaans-speaking women in South Africa, women who suffer in silence and are too often forgotten in poverty. We offer them a safe haven, dignity, a sense of community, and renewed hope. Together, we can break the cycle of neglect.
Our Mission
To host FREE nationwide morning tea events for senior women, featuring spiritually uplifting speakers, tasteful music, thoughtful gifts, prizes, and wholesome entertainment; and to support SASSA pensioner women through grocery gift vouchers, supplementing their limited pensions.
We are committed to honouring and delighting senior women across South Africa, recognising their invaluable contributions to families and society and enhancing their well-being and joy.

Afri Vroue Fonds envisions a world where the beauty, wisdom, vulnerability, and strength of senior women are celebrated, where they feel seen, cherished, and valued, and know they are not alone.
We aim to create meaningful experiences that bring joy, community, gifts, and a sense of worth into the lives of these remarkable women.
Who We Are
Background
Founded in 2020 by Elizabeth Bouwer, Afri Vroue Fonds was born out of the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Elderly Afrikaans women were among the hardest hit, isolated, emotionally drained, and financially vulnerable. Many rely on SASSA grants while their children have emigrated.

Elizabeth is the heart and soul of Afri Vroue Fonds. Her love for our grandmothers gave birth to this organisation and continues to drive every dream.
